What Size Golf Mat Do I Need?
May 21, 2023

Knowing what size golf mat to buy is always a mystery to most folks.  We can simplify this for you!

First, just to give you a reference, it might help to know most driving ranges use mats that are 5' x 5'.

Golf Practice Mats should be purchased based on your height (or the height of the tallest person who will be using it).

Your Height: 5´ tall to 5´ 3":  Mat Size: 3' x 5'

If you are 5´ 4" and taller:  Mat Size:  4' x 5' and larger

If you have, or are planning to have a golf simulator, we recommend a 5' x 6' or larger.

If you want to really make sure you get the right size, we recommend you go get your driver, some masking tape and a tape measure.  Measure and tape off the size you are thinking about getting in your garage or basement.  (Example, if you are thinking of getting a 4' x 5' golf mat, tape out a 4' x 5' rectangle on your garage floor.)

Grab your driver and get inside the rectangle (the 4' side will be the width and the 5' side will be the length.  The 5' side should be in front of you - the 4' width will be for your stance).

Take a few swings just like you would on the course.  Don't try to change your swing to stay in the taped area.  If you find the taped area to be too small, tape the next size up and try again.  If you are able to swing your driver comfortably, you are good to go!
